Just Dressing Up
I Scream .....You Scream...
We all Scream for Ice Cream!
Making our own ice cream in a bag during our "ice themed week" in January was a lot of fun. The kids all helped to measure ingredients and of course shake shake shake the bag.
Here's the recipe for those who want to try it at home:
You will need:
1 large ziplock bag (gallon size)
1 small ziplock bag (quart size)
3 Cups of ice
6 Tbsp of Salt
1/2 Cup of Whole Milk
1/4 tsp. vanilla
Add Milk, Sugar, and Vanilla in the small ziplock bag. Zip tight and place inside the Large ziplock bag with the ice and salt around it. Zip the large ziplock and
Shake...Shake...Shake...
It doesn't make a whole lot and melts pretty quick but it has the desired result!

Snowy Day Creations
Making our own Snowflakes! I wasn't sure how these would turn out because cutting through mulitple sheets of papers is somewhat difficult but I loved the results.

January- Winter Theme
Our first week back at school during January we had an ice themed week. We discussed what ice is (frozen water) and how it changes from one state to the next (melting, freezing etc) When the kids came to school on Tuesday we discovered a terrible accident that occured in the classroom the night before. Some of our tiny plastic animal friends decided to leave their cage and go swimming but it was too cold that night and while they were swimming....the water FROZE! Now they were stuck inside the ice and we had to figure out a way to get them out! The kids were so excited about this and we had a great brainstorming session while we thought of ways to get them out. First they thought about letting the ice just sit there until it melts, then they thought of chopping it with a knife, and finally we settled on pouring hot water over the top to heat up the ice and make it melt since the sun wasn't warm enough that day. They had fun taking turns to pour water over the animals and they each got to save one of the animals as the ice started to melt!

Christmas Party
We had lots of fun celebrating our last few days of preschool before Christmas Break with our Christmas Party. For snack, decorating rice-krispie Christmas trees was lots of fun! We also read a Christmas book called "The Small One" about a little donkey that is sold because he is old and tired and ends up being the donkey that Mary and Joseph take with them to Bethlehem. Very cute, and the kids had a blast cutting out their own "Small One" and then acting out their own littel stories.
